Background to Business Operations
Lee Glass & Window is a full-service glazing shop focusing on both residential and commercial projects. As they scaled, they needed a software partner that could match their pace and reduce admin drag.
A Central Source of Truth that Saves Thousands in Admin Time
Before Glazier, Lee Glass and Window relied on a mix of QuickBooks, Asana, and email — making it difficult to track down what they needed, especially on complex jobs. Now, everything lives in one place.
“We were a la carte-ing everything before. Some in QuickBooks, some in Asana, some in email. It was all over the place. Now it’s all together.”
Glazier’s Solutions
Lee Glass implemented Glazier to address these inefficiencies, gradually rolling out the platform across their operations.
Here's how John from Lee Glass thinks Glazier has helped.
1. 600 Hours Saved Annually
John estimates that the centralized system saves each office employee at least 15 minutes per day. That adds up to 60 hours per year per person — or 600 hours annually across their 10-person admin team.
2. 150 Hours Saved Per Year from AIA Billing Automation
Lee Glass previously handled AIA billing by manually pulling numbers from QuickBooks and formatting continuation sheets by hand.
“Now I would have to go to my schedule of values and figure out what I'm going to bill… pull manual forms and manually fill them out… where [with] Glazier… it creates the schedule of values, it creates the pay app.”
John estimates that each billing now takes 10–15 minutes less, thanks to auto-generated billing documents and consolidated change order tracking. On months when they're billing 5–6 jobs twice, that’s over 12 hours saved per month — or 150 hours per year.
3. Efficient Time Tracking More than Justified Software Cost
Lee Glass had already invested in thorough time tracking before Glazier, but the process was entirely manual. With Glazier, that data now gets entered in real time — without the burden of handwritten logs and re-entry.
“It takes… each guy 10 minutes a day probably. And so, if you're talking 25 or 30 people overall, that's a good chunk of time.”
At 10 minutes/day across 25–30 techs, Glazier is saving the company 4–5 hours per day. Assuming even conservative labor costs, this more than justified the cost of the software from them.
4. 2x Faster Quoting on Small Jobs
For quick repair and glass replacement jobs, Glazier has cut quoting time in half.
“One of the salesmen… did like seven quotes in 45 minutes.”
What used to take 12 minutes per quote now takes around 6 — a 100% improvement in quote speed. These time savings let the team respond to bursts of small jobs much more efficiently, like a recent wave of requests from a local college.
5. Fewer Missed Change Orders and Faster Payment
In their old system, change orders were managed through separate Excel sheets — making them easy to miss and painful to bill. With Glazier, change orders are integrated directly into the workflow. Once approved, they’re automatically included in the next billing cycle — reducing the risk of forgotten revenue and helping avoid payment delays.
6. Field Adoption, Simplified
Although the field team includes several long-time glaziers, adoption was smoother than expected.
“Everybody receives a benefit of time savings in some sense.”
“I would say it saves each tech probably 10 minutes per day being able to access stuff directly and then, you know, put pictures and notes directly into the account instead of putting them on their phone, and then having to come back here and send them to us.”
Technicians now show up with clear instructions, jobsite contact info, and the ability to upload photos and notes from their phones — no more chasing down paperwork after the fact.
7. Visual Field Coordination That Could Simplify Large Job Management
While the team currently uses Fieldwire for large commercial jobs, John sees Glazier’s floorplan tool as a viable replacement as it matures.
“You do a lot of what Fieldwire does. At the end of the year, we’d definitely look at switching.”
He appreciated how pins can be dropped on uploaded plans, with each pin tracking photos, notes, and install progress — all accessible from the field.
“We locate, we label every opening and we upload photos to every job and every opening. The guys in the field are showing an opening ready, they’re showing it finished. That’s exactly what we need.”
With investments in AI-powered takeoffs and punch list tracking underway, the floorplan feature is positioned to support the kind of detailed, high-stakes commercial work that Lee Glass and Window handles every day.
